Congregational singing’s benefits to spiritual growth - Matthew 26:29-32
Sermon summary: God’s project for the Christian-life is to form the believer to become more and more like Jesus. There are four key areas of Christian spirituality for Christian spiritual-life formation focused upon in this series: church-life, relational-life, word-life and prayer-life. In today’s message, we want to understand why God designed congregational singing to benefit Christian spiritual growth.
What is worship? To live, express, preach, sing and find delight in God’s being, works and glory.
Congregational church singing ought to….
1. Prompt us to focus on God’s redemption.
2. Prepare us to receive God’s Word.
3. Point us to God’s Reign.
4. Persuade us to follow God’s will.
