Spiritually Sound Under-Shepherds

January 5, 2020 Speaker: Mahlon Smith Series: Called to be a Healthy Church

Topic: Church Leadership Passage: Titus 1:5–2:1

Message summary: Jesus Christ is defined in the New Testament as the “Chief Shepherd” over His church (1 Peter 2:25; 5:4). Thus, any pastor or leadership within any church are often described as those “under Christ” or “under-shepherds”. If Christians and churches are to attain to greater spiritual health, they need spiritually sound leadership. In today’s message, we consider what spiritually sound under-shepherds look like, and why that matters to you.
1. Spiritual leadership in one’s personal home. Titus 1:6
a. Marriage.
b. Children.
c. Community.
2. Spiritual leadership in God’s house.  Titus 1:7-2:1
a. Sound men of character.
b. Spiritual maturity.
c. Solid preaching.
d. Standing for the truth.
