Passage: Ezra 3:1–13
Evening Series: Starting and Maintaining a Revival
Message: “The Conditions Needed for Revival” Ezra 3:1-13
What is a revival? That periodic work of God that re-emphasizes the Bible, reawakens prayer, and renews God’s work.
1. Consecration. Ezra 3:1-7
Consecration is when I set apart myself, obedience, faithfulness and resources to God’s full access.
a. Consecration of oneself (3:1).
b. Consecration of my obedience (3:2).
c. Consecration to faithfulness (3:3-4).
d. Consecration to resources (3:5-7).
2. Commitment (to see things through). Ezra 3:8-9
Note: Too often the reason why revival tarries or barely gets started is because God knows many churches are not ready to see things through.
3. Craving for God (worship, closeness to Him). Ezra 3:10-13
a. Encouragements to crave more for God (3:10-11).
b. A warning as we crave more for God: beware of “yets” (3:12-13).
c. Keeping focused as we crave more for God. See Hebrews 12:1-2
