The Inconvenient Truth of Jesus' Resurrection

April 4, 2021 Speaker: Mahlon Smith

Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:1–34

The Inconvenient Truth of Jesus’ Resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:1-34
Sermon summary: How is the truth of Jesus resurrection from the dead an “inconvenient truth”? When I say: “inconvenient truth”, I mean how the fact of Jesus’ resurrection will not allow you to remain the same if you distrust the Biblical testimony nor can you remain comfortable if you trust in Jesus for your salvation. As we follow Paul’s case for the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15, the goal is to convince you that: it is better to entrust your life in the inconvenient truth of the risen Jesus than to live in the comforts of its denial.
1. For hypocrites, the resurrection inconveniences faith in themselves. 1 Corinthians 15:1-2
2. For the skeptic, the resurrection inconveniences belief in a Godless universe. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
3. For the fearful, the resurrection inconveniences their need for acceptance. 1 Corinthians 15:5-6
4. For the religious person, the resurrection inconveniences self-righteousness. 1 Corinthians 15:8-11
5. For the follower of Jesus, the resurrection inconveniences insulation from opposition. 1 Corinthians 15:12-19, 29-34
