The Wisdom of God’s Will in Suffering
Sermon summary: The theme of the Book of Job is that of “Finding God’s Wisdom through suffering”. In this series, we desire to survey the Wisdom Books of the Bible (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon) as we pursue God’s wisdom in all life’s areas. Wisdom is the skill to relate to God and others that results in a Godward direction. In this message, we shall explore comforting wisdom from God’s will when we suffer.
- God’s ultimate will gives purpose to all things. Job 42:2
*God’s will is God acting, by His pleasure, His most knowing and wise desire through means and creaturely decisions, to accomplish His hidden, allowed or revealed purpose.
- God’s unrevealed and permissive will includes evil to achieve good
things. Job 1:1-5, 13-22; 2:7-13
*Pain of love *Pain of losing security
*Pain of losing comfort *Pain of losing finances
*Pain of losing children *Pain of losing health
*Pain of lethal words
- God’s revealed will strengthens faith to trust God in all things.
Job 1:20-22; 13:15-18; 19:23-25
